November 2009

The crunch of leaves and the crisp smell in the air (not to mention the arrival of honeycrisp apples!) are sure signs that autumn is upon us.  Congratulations to student, parent and teacher alike for a fantastic first quarter.

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped with the faculty lunches during conferences and all those who came to help with the very successful Fall Fling. Janelle Madsen outdid herself again as our Fall Fling chairperson, andBrenna Chapman put together a wonderful crew of volunteers.  BRAVO!

The PTSO is excited about a new event we are sponsoring. We will be hosting a Craft Fair on Saturday, November 21st from  Come and get some holiday shopping done right here at KTMS!

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS: Here are several opportunities to help out KTMS and pick up some great reading materials for you, your students and  all those other special people in your lives:

***In conjunction to the Craft Fair we will be having a used books/media sale on Saturday, November 21st as well. Donations can be brought to the school any time, and we will be having as tudent drive with a pizza party incentive as well.  This is a great time to clean out those bookshelves!

***KTMS will be having it's fall book fair the week of November 16,just in time for the holiday season. It will be held in the IMC.  There are band concerts the evenings ofNovember 17 and 19, so it will be open for those hours. Teachers get a sneak peek on Friday, November 13. Students will be visiting during specific classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They will also be able to visit during homeroom times. It will be open one half hour before and after school on Monday through Thursday and Friday morning as well.

***Mark your calendars for December 10 2009.  That is the date of our Barnes and Noble fundraiser.  Make your purchases and let the cashier know you are with KTMS… we will receive a portion of the sales for the day.  These funds will be donated to the IMC to purchase new materials for our students.

Check your closets for gently used or new coats.  Cold Weather, Warm Coats for Kids is taking donations of New or Clean gently used coats.  Donations are being accepted at the Middle School Offices, and the Community Ed Building in downtown Lakeville.  Although items are accepted throughout the school year itwould be helpful if donations could be received now, in order to plan for the winter.  Larger sizes are preferred, but anything will help.  Questions? Please call 952 435-5423.

We are still hoping to add to our fantastic PTSO board.  The Hospitality chair is still empty.  This person helps coordinate the faculty lunches at conference time and the faculty breakfast on the staff work day after the last day of school.  If you are interested or just want more information please contact Debbie Mason at [ mailto:masonptso@gmail.com ]masonptso@gmail.com

Join us for a board meeting! Our remaining meetings are November 5, January 7, March 4, and May6.  All are at 7:00 p.m. in theconference room in the school’s main office.

Happy Autumn!
